Thomas Alias? Co$te   Where you from? -United States Define your music in 5 words? -Unique, exciting, catchy, uplifting, organized. What inspires you? -Seeing artists go from unknown to known with hard work. It inspires me to go after my dream and that anything is possible as long as you don’t give up. NO MATTER how hard it takes. What does a normal day look like? -Wake up, exercise, hang out with family or friends, go outside, go to the beach, bike ride, or take walks, make music on JAM , play video games, go to sleep. How much time do you spend in JAM? -Depends. Sometimes I’ll spend a whole week making music in JAM or I’ll take a few weeks off and come back with new ideas. Favorite artist? -Coldplay Favorite music genre? -Trap, but I listen to many other genres as well. What does music mean for you? -Music is my way out of almost anything. It gets me through the day no matter how good or bad. Music is a way to express myself. Without music it would limit me from letting out a lot of my emotions. What do you like the most about the JAM community? -That we can share our music to be heard by others. To be able to post a song and have others support is an awesome thing. What’s your favourite style pack? Which one is still missing? -I don’t have a favourite really. You just need to be creative with them. You can mix any styles together to make an amazing sound. And what’s missing? Hmm. I’d have to say a ‘Vox style pack’ with a lot of vocal cuts similar to what they use in mainstream songs. What kind of feature would you still like to see in the app? -An option to be able to change the BPM of an individual loop rather than the whole song being the same speed. Say you want the beat at 70 BPM, but you want the guitar to stay at 120 BPM because at 70 BPM the guitar starts to lose it’s greatness in sound. It would make us all be able to create more songs with fewer packs. A lot of us have asked for this and I know it would make certain styles less limited. It would make people buy more packs as well. Do you remember the first track you released in JAM? What did it feel like? -Yes. It felt so good to create a song and get immediate feedback. It was something I wasn’t used to. To be able to take loops and put them together to make my own song was something that kept me from ever leaving JAM. How long do you take about writing a new song? -Depends. Sometimes a few hours, and sometimes a few days. When I get stuck while making a song I often listen to mainstream songs to see what people enjoy. Tell us about your track ‘Let Go’? -It’s a track I’m most proud of. It’s a song I was planning to make for quite some time. One day I heard the vocals and instantly knew I needed to make a track with them. I knew a lot of people didn’t use the vocals so I wanted to make something as unique as I could. I started combining sounds together and everything just fit perfectly. When did you know that it was good? -After I started reading a lot of the feedback on my song many people said it was one of my best. If you know music then you know what good music is. I can tell bad music from good and when hearing my song I could tell I created something special. Which creative ideas did you build the song from? -I started listening to a lot of songs and how they built up to there drops. I tried to learn a lot about building, fx, transitions, chord progression and made it all into my own style. During the process of making “Let Go” I tried to be as creative as I could by using loops that not many people use together. Where does your main inspiration come from? -Listening to a lot of EDM and Trap songs. What makes a good song in your opinion? -A great song connects with people, makes them dance, is memorable, and is well organized and crafted. What is your planning for your next release? -Not entirely sure. I have a lot of tracks in mind, but I want to make sure my next release is worth the wait. What would you still like to learn in the next years? -I would like to learn more about music theory, and the history and science behind music. What is the next step? What is your dream? -My dream is to become something big. I want to be known. I want to be a famous music producer. It’s a dream that usually stays a dream, but I want it to become reality. Top 5 Trap songs? -I have so many favorites I can’t pick a top 5. I have a whole playlist of Trap and there’s so many to choose from! If you could give one piece of advice to a new Jammer, what would it be? -Be you and stay you. Don’t change your music and taste for anyone. Be original, and be yourself. Shout-out moment. Who’s your favourite rising star in the community? -I’d have to say ScreamWorks. Although there are many other jammers I enjoy he is by far my favorite rising star.
